Rice Play.

When the weather turns cooler, or Mr A has a cold I turn our water table into a coloured rice table.
Coloured rice is SO easy to make.
What you need:
Cheap rice - I prefer Long grain.
Snap lock bags.
Food colouring.
Hand sanitiser.

I half fill a few bags depending on how many colours I want.
Then squirt a couple squirts  of hand sanitiser into the bag followed by a drops of food colouring - enough to get your desired colour - As you can tell I like our Bright - I have tried natural  food colouring but found I didn't like the colour result.
Close bag & massage rice until its all mixed repeat with other colours.

I find that the rice dries quite quickly - I just pop it on the table in the sun for an hour or so.

Mr M. loves to be the one that mixes the colours up. Mr A. loves to play dump trucks moving the rice around. As much as I encourage him to use the small trucks on the play table the rice always seems to end up in the good old John Deere & moved around the yard.
This is great sensory play for young & old.
Enjoy.

Memory Jar 2014.

Hi there!

At the start of this year I decided to record some of our fun family moments and not open them until New Years Eve 2014.

We generally don't do anything exciting to celebrate the New Year so I thought this year it might be nice to sit down and read our memorial moments as a family while saying goodbye to one year and hello to another.

My friend gave me this cute jar for Christmas and its perfect.

For the notes I use Project Life Journal cards - they are the perfect size and too cute not too use.

Mr M. doesn't know I'm doing this and I know he will get a kick out of the                                                             small moments I've recorded from Mr A's first train ride -
to a fantastic dinner we had.

Are you keeping any type journal this year or have you in the past?
I would love to hear your ideas.

Welcome...

Welcome to my little blog!
I'll start by telling you a little bit about myself and what I hope my blog will be about.
I'm Bec and I'm 30'ish - I stopped counting after my 30th Birthday.
I'm Mum to Mr A. (Almost 2) and wife To Mr M.
Mr M& I have been annoying each for around 8 years.
I'm a fur Mum to many - A house is not a home without a fur friend or two!

Why Polka dots and Teapots? I love anything with polka dots on it- Lucky for me Mr M. doesn't comment or notice that more and more 'dots' are taking over our home. And teapots? Well I have recently started collecting cute tea sets - I rarely drink tea so its an odd collection to start!

Why did I start a blog?
I often get asked where do I buy a lot of Mr A's. Toys, crafts items, and room decorations from or where did I come up with that Idea from.
 Pinterest is often my answer!
I love to celebrate birthdays and think everyone should feel special on their birthday so I like to create lots of little things to make a birthday or any celebration fun.

I follow a lot of blogs and thought hey I can give this a go! Some one out there might like an idea or two of mine.

I hope you will stick around and read my posts and leave me a comment or two!
